13. Understanding the "promise" we make through our online profiles; idealization, uncertainty reduction theory, and online dating - Dr. Jeffrey A. Hall
Description
1. Self-presentation is the tool by which we manage other people’s impressions of ourselves. Dr. Hall explains. 2. As soon as we think we might want to get to know someone, our desire to reduce uncertainty goes really high. 3. Online we engage in what Dr. Hall calls strategic self-presentation. What is that? 4. 5. Move to in person conversations as quickly as possible to reduce the potential for idealization.
